After last year's "Christmas in a hotel", this year was especially wonderful! It was so nice to be in our own home and to have family with us! John's parents were here for a week and we had lots of fun!
On Christmas Eve Grandma Rosie helped the boys make a gingerbread house and Grandpa Wayne read us "The Cremation of Sam McGee". This is something that my Dad did when we were growing up. He would put on his mukluks and read this poem every Christmas morning before we could open presents. It was fun having John's dad bring the tradition to our house this year. However, we did have him read the poem on Christmas eve . . . I didn't want to torture the kids on Christmas morning. They already have to sit through us reading the Christmas story from the Bible before they can open presents.
We also had our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. That way we have lots of yummy leftovers to eat on Christmas Day and I don't have to cook a thing, I just get to enjoy the day with my family!
Oh the JOY of Christmas Morning!

Gabe and Porter were very confused why Mom and Dad wrapped up their old (okay not old, but not new) coats and gloves and snow boots!
Then they found a note telling them to put on their winter woolies and go outside to find their real present . . .

Our kids got a trampoline for Christmas too. We were mean and gave them a printout picture in Utah. They have to wait until we get home to get it. :-)
However, we don't have to battle the snow to play on the trampoline. In fact, today and tomorrow it's supposed to hit 70 in San Diego. If only we can get there. Enjoying time at Dana's right now!!
