Sheridan, Wyoming

This last week we drove to Sheridan for Grandma Heaton's funeral.
A big part of this trip was reminiscing about things John and his siblings did as kids.  First thing we did was spend time at Grandma and Grandpa Heaton's Dry Farm.
Dave was king of the pond, catching all sorts of animals for the kids to look at!
See that sign Charlie is holding?  It used to hang above the entrance to the Dry Farm.  John and Chuck battled for ownership of the sign by having a bow and arrow shooting competition.
Checking the target and adding up the points
It was a really close match, but the sign looks great hanging in our family room : )
We also went down to the creek (pronounced crick) and heard lots of stories from Chuck and John about things that went down there . . . like John getting his tongue stuck to the bridge in the middle of winter : )
The best part is that while Chuck and John lead us down memory lane, our own kids were making new memories with their cousins.  These kids were wild and crazy, but they had so much fun playing together!
The house where John's family lived in Sheridan.
I love this pic of the kids listening to Uncle Chuck's story of the time he saved Brandy (the pug dog) from under the ice on the creek.
This handsome guy took us on a wild fish chase up Piney Creek
Our group couldn't keep up with Uncle John, so the kids stopped and made forts on the side of the trail.
Q trying to break a stick on his knee like he saw Aunt Andra do : )
We visited the cemetery again and had the kids leave pennies on their ancestor's graves.
Quentin's namesake, his Great Great Grandma Bell
The boys next to John Edwin Bell's headstone, John's namesake.
The kids chased a heard of deer through the cemetery.  It was hilarious to see them running and hiding behind headstones trying to be sneaky.  When that didn't work they decided to make themselves "look" like deer . . . notice the antlers and Gabe being the backend.

Next stop was downtown Sheridan.
We had such a fun trip!  The kids LOVED playing with their cousins and kept asking if we could move to Wyoming.  We had to explain that their cousins were just visiting Wyoming too and it'd be really boring to live there without them.  We love these special trips when we get to make such fun memories with our families!  However, we still haven't solved the ancient mystery of what does the fox say. . .

Awesome, our boys wanted to move to Oklahoma after the trip. I feel bad about losing the sign competition and worse when I think of how many times I will hear about it going forward. Congratulation little brother!
