Are we Okies now?

We've now had our first extreme weather experience in Oklahoma.  A tornado touched down in Moore, just to the south of us.  The kids go to school in the Moore school district and our church is in Moore.  We were supposed to be at the church for a Blue and Gold Banquet, but it was postponed because of the weather.  These photos are taken just blocks from the church.  Counting our blessings that our family was home together, safe and sound last night.
During the storm John ran outside and could see the tornado that touched down in Moore from our front yard.  He ran inside to get me, but by the time I got outside it was gone.  Even though it was a "small" tornado, it still did a lot of damage.  At our house we experienced severe wind, rain & hail, but thankfully no damage.  This tornado was nothing like the devastation that occurred two years ago in Moore, but it's still heartbreaking to see people lose their homes.
John and Gabe were able to go help with the cleanup this evening.  I stayed home with Porter and Quentin, but did take a quick drive through Moore to see some of the storm's aftermath.

This elementary school lost it's roof
This radio antenna snapped in two and two others were down on the ground
Broken headstones in the cemetery
The following photos are from a local news website.
Isn't it amazing how something so dangerous and destructive can also be so beautiful?  It's humbling to realize how small and insignificant we really are.  And that God who controls all of this actually knows and cares about little insignificant you and me?  It's good to be reminded of that, even if it's a hard lesson.

Know that He is aware of each of you (and me) gives me great comfort as you live through these experiences. Please know that we were praying in your behalf that night. So glad you were safe. So awesome that John and Gabe had the opportunity to serve. You are remarkable parents! Much love!
