While John's parents were here they watched our kids for two days so John and I could get some much needed time away together. This was the first time we've been without kids in seven years!!! Thank you Rose and Wayne!!!
First thing we did was head out to find some dinner. We walked out of our hotel and I saw the Carnegie Deli across the street. I knew it was a famous restaurant and there was a line of people waiting to get in, so we decided to give it a try. Here's John in front of Carnegie Deli with our hotel, The Wellington, behind him. Our hotel room was about the size of a coat closet, but had great NYC views : )
So the food at Carnegie was pretty much fabulous!
This is half of our Ruben sandwich, yes only half, the other half was on John's plate.
Did I mention it was good?
Guarantee we will be going here every time we are in the city!
Walking off that sandwich in Central Park : )
My dream of seeing the Egyptian artifacts at The Met came true. Check that one off the bucket list!
There really were some amazing things there, but these were a couple of my favorites. The "I'm breastfeeding while balancing books on my head" statue.
And this statue. Bwahahaha!
Our next stop was a session at the Manhattan Temple.
After the temple we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Best part of the meal was the guacamole made fresh right at our table.
John only came to NYC for the food : )
The Restaurant's cool waterfall.
The next day our first stop was the 9/11 Memorial.
The Survivor Tree
Chinatown!
See the roasted ducks . . . they still have their heads.
Yes, for lunch we ate in Chinatown at the restaurant offering Roast Pigeon on their menu.
John had duck soup . . . remember those ducks in the window? Yea, so did John as he picked bones out of his soup : )
How many places can you buy frogs and eels at the grocery store?
We got a good laugh out of this "gourmet powder."
The only ingredient: MSG.
We hit the Museum of Natural History next. Honestly, not my favorite. Ben Stiller wasn't there and it was disappointing for the animals to just be dead and stuffed after seeing the movie. Anyway after that we walked outside and since it was the day before Thanksgiving we got to see them blowing up the balloons for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Another thing to check off my list!
Last stop on our trip, dinner at the Carnegie Deli again : )
This time we had the Thanksgivukkah Sandwich.
