Time to catch up

There really hasn't been much going on lately, just lots of everyday little things, but that's what makes up our life.   So here's what we've been doing:

John works a lot of Saturdays : (  A few weeks ago the kids and I hung out with him at work for a while.

Gabe really wanted his picture taken with his Star Wars Angry Birds : )
This is an activity sheet Gabe did during General Conference.  I love the picture he drew of L. Tom Perry.

 I guess he was tired . . .
All three boys watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
On May 1st John and I celebrated on 11th Wedding Anniversary and we had family pictures taken.  (I'll post more pictures later.)
For our anniversary I told John the only thing I wanted was for him to take the day off work and spend it with me!  He didn't take the whole day, but it was pretty close.  He worked for a few hours in the morning and was home by 8 AM to spend the day with me!   After dropping Gabe off at school we headed to the Landfill to get compost!   I know, I know . . . what an day off work . . . but he's rarely around to do this kind of stuff . . . so we have to do it when we can!
Porter and I may have been off taking pictures while Daddy was shoveling the compost.  Did you ever see a cuter picture taken at the landfill?  (And just FYI if you're a resident of Colonie the compost is free!)

It took two loads of compost to fill up our flower beds!  I helped shovel the second load after we stopped and bought another shovel : )
Here's what the finished flower beds look like after we added the block wall.
Next up on the agenda was lunch.  Yep, these are the kinds of places my hubby chooses to eat.
And yes, food from a truck can be delicious!
Next . . . we went to look at cars.  I've been wanting a new car for a while now and like I said, we have to do these things while the money maker is around.  (Plus my car smelled like cow poo after transporting compost in it.)
Well looking turned into buying, because seriously . . . who wants to ride in a car that smells like poo & when was I going to get John back to a dealership?  So I really got spoiled for my anniversary!  Here's what we came home with : )  The boys think it's really cool because it has a sun roof just like Grandma Jan's car!
 Quentin HATES the grass.
 But he LOVES his Mommy!

The boys called this a Quentin Samwitch . . . it'll be a miracle if he survives his older brothers : )
And finally, a Gabe-ism & Porter-ism to bring a smile to your face.

Gabe: How does the weather man know what God is thinking?

Porter: (while praying)  I'm thankful that our car can get old so a monster truck can smash it.

Buried Treasure

Do you all remember the treasures we found in the basement when we first moved into our house?  (Read about the treasures here.)  Well, today I uncovered some more buried treasure!  While working in the flower bed in the front yard I dug up a dead cat.  Our elderly next door neighbor, Lilly, was close friends with Mary who used to live in our house.  Lilly came over to see what I was doing in the yard this morning and Porter decided to show her the cat's skull.  She looked at it and simply said, "Oh, that's Mary's cat."  And on with the conversation we went.  Apparently she didn't find it unusual that we had just dug up Mary's precious feline.  I wonder what she would have said if I'd showed her the condoms?  "Oh, those are Mary's condoms."  Maybe you had to be there, but it was funny.  And I hope Mary doesn't mind, but kitty (and condoms) are now on the way to the landfill.

Porter is 4!

So it's taken me a couple of weeks to get this post up, but Porter turned four this month and we had a great time celebrating his birthday!  We started the day off with cupcakes for breakfast!  And right after I got finished telling him he was going to have to wait ALL day to open his presents, Daddy surprised us and came home from work for a few minutes so Porter could open his presents!  After Gabe went to school Porter and I went to Tumbling Tykes (an indoor play place) with a couple of friends from church.  Then he chose Wendy's for his birthday lunch.  After lunch we came home and took a nap together on my bed.  As I lay in bed, cuddling my little boy, I couldn't help but think it was pretty special that on this day four years ago I was cuddling this same little boy in a hospital bed.  Enough sentimental stuff, next thing on our agenda for Porter's birthday was picking up his friend Ryder and going to the Funplex.  The kids had a blast as they drove go carts, played mini golf, and bounced in the bouncy house.  And to end the day we had more cupcakes!  Happy Birthday to our furry little beast!  We Love You Porter!

I love in this picture that Porter can't see over the steering wheel & Gabe isn't looking where he's going!
