Muscle Shirts

Pretty cute boys if you ask me.
(Even if they are a little redneck in their muscle shirts.)
Totally unrelated, but just so you know
yesterday Gabe informed me that
"Jesus made flies just so we could kill them."
Good information to have.
Thanks Gabe!

Rach's time: 1 hour 20 minutes Pace: 12.7 mph

Duathlon Results

John and I teamed up last night and participated in the Wright-Patt Duathlon. Basically, you run 2 miles, bike 10 miles, and run another 2 miles. Since we did it as a team I did the running and he did the biking. Our times:
Run 1: 19:18
Bike: 31:54
Run 2: 21:42
Total time: 1 hour 14 mins.

Just FYI the guy who finished in first place finished in 48 mins. Whoa. Anyway, here are some pictures from the event. Why are there no pictures of John you might ask. Well, basically he is too fast to be photographed . . . or I may have been in the port-a-potty when he finished. One of the two.

Shersti, Matt, and I finishing Run 1.

Imagine a picture of John biking here : )

Me finishing Run 2.
One thing I love about the duathlons is they are very family friendly, which is great for us since we drug our kids plus an extra kid along with us. (However, this is also why we have to do the duathlon as a team - someone has to be there to watch the kids.) Anyway, they do a kids fun run at the very end and even give them medals. So great!

The kids all lined up to start their race.
Go, Gabe, Go!
Our big finisher! Show'em those muscles!

Touchdown Jesus

If you've ever been to visit us and we've taken you to Cincinnati, then chances are that you'll remember seeing this guy - whom we call "Touchdown Jesus". Well, unfortunately the drive to Cincinnati just got really boring, because this six story tall statue of Jesus is gonezo after being struck by lightning last night. Crazy, but true story. Rubber Duck Regetta

Yesterday I took the kids to The Rubber Duck Regatta at Riverscape Metro Park. I really don't know what a regatta is, but I sure think it's a fun word to say. Anyway, it's not everyday you see 12,000 rubber duckies floating down the river.
This picture is random, but we past this building while driving to the Regatta and I thought it was really cool. Oh and by the way I looked up the word regatta and it refers to boat or yacht racing. I guess the rubber ducks were the "boats" for this regatta.

Another Gabe funny

Gabe: "Emperor Zurg is not part of our family."
Mom: "That's right. He's not part of our family."
Gabe: "Yeah, because he would look bad in the picture."

What is today's adventure?

This is the question I am asked every day by my little adventurer. Sometimes our adventures are pretend, for instance, yesterday we pretended to be pirates and we buried treasure in the sandbox at the park. Today, we ventured down to The Greene and played in the water fountains. My kids played in the water for over two hours . . . a successful adventure if you ask me!

Strawberries!

Saturday we spent the morning at the strawberry patch. Although it was super hot, we had a great time filling our buckets with beautiful strawberries!

Even Porter (who doesn't like fruit) couldn't help himself from sampling the goods!
Gabe did a little picking and a lot of supervising!
The real work horse. He filled 3 buckets - that's a lot of work!
This was a neighborhood outing!
Here is the cute Wahlquist family.
Zach and Dana joined too.
I don't think Zach ever stopped sampling the berries!
The Booths and Domms were there too, but not photographed. Sorry guys!
And finally, here's what we did with those 3 buckets of strawberries.
Freezer jam and strawberry pies . . . oooh, la, la, yummers!
