Valentine's Day!

About a week ago Gabe came to me in tears and told me that it was Valentine's Day and no one had given him a Valentine.  It broke my heart to see him so sad, but funny too because it was an entire week before Valentine's Day, he'd just gotten the day wrong.  Seeing him so excited and then just devastated made me really want to make Valentine's Day special for him this year.

So for breakfast we made heart shaped pancakes with homemade strawberry syrup and bacon.  We also made Valentine sugar cookies, but when you live in a house full of boys the cookies don't turn out very "Valentine-ee".  The boys didn't want to use the heart shaped cookie cutters and they didn't want to use pink frosting.  So we ended up with gingerbread men, dog bones, and blue frosting.
I did insist on making a few heart shaped cookies. (Hello boys, it is Valentine's Day!)
Our little Quentin monster was so sick, he spent all day laying on the couch.  Even being sick he enjoyed the treats his grandparents sent!
You're never too sick to enjoy a cookie on Valentine's Day!
But, the very best part of Valentine's Day . . . was waking up to 20 inches of new snow!  That much snow means school was cancelled and John was working from home!  Nothing better than getting to spend all day with my Valentines!  There's no one else I'd rather shovel snow with on Valentine's Day than my boys!
Our poor mailbox didn't survive this snowstorm.  Sometime later in the day it was taken out by a snowplow and is now laying pathetically on top of the snowbank : (
A few hours later and the driveway is clear . . . I think he's had enough shoveling for one day : )
Who wouldn't want to play in all that beautiful snow?
We even shoveled off the deck and made a sledding hill in the backyard!
I think it turned out to be a pretty special Valentine's Day after all!  I sure hope my boys know how much I love them! XOXO

Chocolate Milk Bubbles

Sometimes we need to relax the rules and have some fun, and the more, the merrier!  It was great having Elder Watkins and Elder Holt join us in our bubble blowing mania!
