This statue was modeled after my ancestor Isaac Davis.  A Minuteman and the first Colonial officer to loose his life in the Revolutionary War.

We found one of John's ancestors, Nathaniel Heaton, buried in the Old Granary Burial Ground.  We looked and looked for his headstone and found him buried amongst the crowds at John Hancock's grave.

Road Signs

While driving through the Adirondacks last week the kids were reading the road signs.  Here are some of the signs we saw & the kids interpretations.

Naturally, if this sign means 

DEER CROSSING

so this sign must mean  . . .

Fort Ticonderoga

For today's adventure, we headed North to Lake Champlain where we explored Fort Ticonderoga!

The kids made their own French knit hats.  Porter also got an authentic Fort Ticonderoga battle wound on his knee, blood and everything : )

Leaving we took our car across the Fort Ti Ferry : )
